Description

D-Panthenol is a chemical extracted from vitamin B5 or pantothenic acid. It is naturally present in our bodies and also in plants and animals. Panthenol is a precursor of vitamin B5 or pantothenic acid, so it is often called provitamin B5. Compared with pantothenic acid, panthenol can penetrate deeper into the skin due to its chemical structure, so panthenol is a more popular beauty ingredient in the cosmetics industry than vitamin B5.

D-Panthenol is a colorless to slightly yellowish transparent viscous liquid, which may crystallize when stored at low temperatures for a long time. It has a slight special odor and is hygroscopic. D-Panthenol is easily soluble in water, methanol, and ethanol, and insoluble in ether, chloroform, oils, and fats. It is relatively stable in air and under light.

D-Panthenol is widely used in health products, food, and cosmetics industries.
