Carbomer 980 is a white loose polymer with slightly acidic and hygroscopic properties. It is soluble in water, ethanol and glycerol. It is obtained by bonding allyl sucrose or pentaerythritol allyl ether with acrylic acid. It has high thickening performance, high transparency, high viscosity, strong suspension ability, and low resistance to ionic shear force.

Description

Carbomer980 (Carbopol 980)is a polymer obtained by cross-linking acrylic acid with allyl sucrose or allyl pentaerythritol, with cyclohexane and ethyl acetate as reaction solvents. As a water-soluble rheology modifier thickener, it has efficient thickening and suspension properties. Its high transmittance is particularly suitable for transparent gels, hydroalcoholic gels and creams, and can form crystal clear water-based or hydroalcoholic gels.

As a rheology modifier, Carbomer 980 can produce efficient thickening at a very low dosage, and is often used for thickening, suspension and emulsification in the formulation of cosmetics or medicines. For example, it can be used in styling gels, hydroalcoholic gels, moisturizing gels, shower gels, toothpastes, shampoos, shaving gels, moisturizers and sunscreen lotions. Carbomer 980 has good transparency and excellent suspension stability, which makes it widely used in personal care, home care, detergents and other formulations.

The chemical properties of Carbomer 980 include that it is a loose white powder, acidic, hygroscopic and has a special slight odor, and can be dissolved in water, ethanol and glycerin.
